Marissa D. Lenzi
Hello! My name is Marissa D. Lenzi, and I’m proud to be running as a Republican candidate for the Newington Board of Education.
I was born and raised right here in Newington and am a proud graduate of the Newington Public Schools system. My husband, also a lifelong Newington resident and graduate, has been married for 27 wonderful years. Together, we raised our four children in Newington, all of whom attended and graduated from Newington Public Schools.
I currently serve as the Republican Deputy Registrar of Voters, a role that allows me to support and protect the people’s right to vote, a process I’ve been passionate about since I was 18 years old. I also serve as a school crossing guard for Newington Public Schools, a position I’ve held for the past four years with pride and dedication.
Outside of my work, I cherish time with my family and love being a new grandmother. In my free time, I enjoy painting and puzzles. I also actively serve on the Newington Economic Development Committee and am a member of Newington Pride. Giving back to the town that shaped me has always been close to my heart.
I’m running for the Newington Board of Education because our children are our future — and they deserve every opportunity to thrive.
My mission is to ensure every child in Newington has access to the tools, support and opportunities they need to succeed. I care deeply about our schools, our families and the future of our community — and I’m committed to being a strong, steady voice for our children.

Brian Skibo
I learned early on that if you want something, you have to work for it. My father taught me that, and it stuck.
In 1985, I joined the Newington Fire Department, serving for 12 years and becoming an Engineer for Company 3.
After graduating high school in 1986, I earned my degree in Architectural Drafting Design from Ashton Art Institute.
Over time, I realized something was missing. I’d always loved music and had played in bands for years, so I shifted into DJing. I also discovered a passion for car detailing. Eventually, I decided to turn both into full-time work and now, 27 years later, I’m still doing what I love.
Through it all, the most important lesson I’ve learned is this: whatever you do, do it well, and make people happy with your work.
